Looking Inwards

I keep putting off blogging because I wanted to have time to sit down and write a proper post. So much for such intentions. Here I am again writing one off the cuff.

Work on my blue costume seems to have come to a standstill; I’ve covered the bra cups but can’t seem to decide on how to do the straps… I don’t feel like making another halter but I don’t like having the conventional straps cutting into my shoulders as well. Stretchy or non-stretch? Also, Nadya has taught me how to make the waistband for the skirt (which I anticipated would be the most complicated part), but I haven’t made the paper template pattern yet… uhg.

Work is as usual, piles of stuff to do as we have to start doing the promotions for the… err… epicurean event. I’m covering almost half the participating restaurants (including the ones in other states) and my editors and Ms Kawaii (new editorial assistant) are covering the other half. Strange distribution of duties, but what can I say, perhaps they like my writing. :P

GeekGod (or Clark Kent, as Allegra and I refer to him) is the new Canadian editor that set female tongues in all the other departments wagging before we at editorial even clapped eyes on him. A young ex-editor-in-chief from a tech publication background, he’s only been in this part of the world for a few weeks, with cruel-raced (Japanese, BJD reference) girlfriend in tow. He seems reasonable so far; we’ll see how working with him turns out.

Ms Kawaii is our sweet petite editorial assistant, hardworking, eager to learn and idealistic. I feel worldly and experienced when she asks for my advice on work, but I also feel so old. I used to be the youngest in offices. Oh well. :P

Anyway. On to something that makes me long terribly for next Friday: Shrike (F) is coming to visit… :):) I think this is the longest time we’ve been apart between visits. I can’t afford - either financially or in terms of time - to fly to Sweden again this year, I think… so this few weeks he’s here are going to be so precious. Hope that I won’t get any more things on my plate than there already are…. so we can be together more. Wish us luck…

Finally, a test I took:

Your Five Factor Personality Profile

You have low extroversion. You are quiet and reserved in most social situations.
A low key, laid-back lifestyle is important to you. You tend to bond slowly, over time, with one or two people.

Conscientiousness:
You have low conscientiousness. Impulsive and off the wall, you don't take life too seriously. Unfortunately, you sometimes end up regretting your snap decisions. Overall, you tend to lack focus, and it's difficult for you to get important things done.

Agreeableness:
You have medium agreeableness. You're generally a friendly and trusting person. But you also have a healthy dose of cynicism. You get along well with others, as long as they play fair.

Neuroticism:
You have low neuroticism. You are very emotionally stable and mentally together. Only the greatest setbacks upset you, and you bounce back quickly. Overall, you are typically calm and relaxed - making others feel secure.

Openness to experience:
Your openness to new experiences is high. In life, you tend to be an early adopter of all new things and ideas. You'll try almost anything interesting, and you're constantly pushing your own limits. A great connoisseur of art and beauty, you can find the positive side of almost anything.
