It's back!

The header image is back, thanks to Flickr! I got the idea of hosting it there after remembering that Dan (Suitcasing) does this too, for some of his photos. :)

Went to New Paris in SS2 for dinner just now; ordered some of the usual dishes (stirfried spinach, ribs in Chinese barbeque sauce, the restaurant's specialty tofu) and a fish dish.. steamed talapia with spicy sauce. It was SO good. I highly recommend the place!

Got some gorgeous red stretch velvet and a beautiful remnant of tiger skin-print-esque chiffon from Kamdar, plus lovely gold trim (for red costume) and rick-racks in 6 colours (tribal costume) from a haberdashery in PJ Old Town. I can't decide whether to make a red or white bedlah first... or a coin one? Gold or silver? Aghhhh, decisions, decisions!

Anyway, schleepy now. F is heading to Gothemburg to see the new year in with his dad's family. I miss him..

Making a comeback...!

Hi everyone!

Ok, it's been quite a while since I wrote... 2 months? Anyway. I'll try to pick up where I left off.

F went home on 13th November. I was supposed to work that day, but managed to get out of it.. needed to spend the day with him. On this trip, we didn't go out of town, just explored the attractions in KL, because it was a really busy time for me. I brought him to the KL Bird Park and KL Butterfly Park, and my parents took him to Petaling Street to shop some. He bought a bunch of pirated DVDs; my mom made the exasperated (but desperate?) seller test every single one of the discs before she let F pay for them, hehehee.

He also got to act as my photographer for a work assignment, and met my new American managing editor, and various members of the foreign diplomatic core! He also had to be the shutterbug for a dance gig at KL's most beautiful Middle Eastern restaurant, Al Nafourah, where gourmet hors d'oeuvres and wine was being served during our performance, and there was a gorgeous chocolate fountain on the buffet table. Tee hee.

As the Deepavali and Hari Raya celebrations happened during his visit, he got to experience those as well. We were invited to my colleagues' houses and he met quite a number of them. During Deepavali, I wore a saree, and F was exposed to some crazy Indian humour. Haha!

During one of my company's gourmet events, he sampled many different types of wine, won a cigar, and ate a tonne of the most yummy baklava from Lavand.. while watching a demonstration on how to make the delicious but complicated-to-make sweetmeat.

Then we stayed at the new Boulevard hotel for one night, quite a beautiful place.. and had planned to go to the Kuala Gandah elephant sanctuary the next day, but unfortunately he got ill with a high fever. I was so afraid it was the dengue fever (there was an outbreak at the time), but it was not, thank heaven.

I'd say he had quite an adventure in KL. :)

Since he went home it's been work, work, work (with some dance gigs in between). Feeling quite drained with regards to work. I'm also still working on my purple costume... but that should be done as soon as I've finished the fringe. Will put some shots of that up soon!

Seriously, if I didn't have my dance I think I'd be much worse off...

One thing that has made me happy recently is my (third ever) solo bellydance performance at the company Christmas party, held at my boss's house. I was pretty nervous as I made my entrance into the hall (yes, his house is huge), where all my colleagues were gathered, but once I got warmed up I really enjoyed performing! It was a great experience, because I'd never danced in this kind of venue before, where the audience was all around me, so I had to modify the choreography and improvise quite a bit. But it was really fun because everyone was so enthusiastic, smiling and clapping along to the music (most were probably shocked to see it was me too!). The positive energy from the audience really boosted my spirits and as a result I did some of my best dancing then, I believe. :) I was wearing a brand new black costume that my mom and I rushed to finish, and my entrance was framed by a red veil for drama and to reflect the Xmas spirit. ;)

Ok, that's all for now. I'll try to get myself blogging again. :P If I don't post later or tomorrow, here's wishing each and every one of you a great start to 2006! Happy New Year! *big hugs all around to all!*

Love, Siryn

P/S: Domain is in "redemption period" because I didn't renew in time. So I have to wait till mid-Jan to attempt to get it back... sigh.
