A Little Dazed

I broke my left arm last Wednesday while sledding with F and some friends...

It was quite scary... I flew at high speed down the hill on the sled and according to F I flew 4 feet in the air when i hit a high bump at the bottom of the hill and did a spectacular double somersault. When i landed, my left arm wasn't where i thought it was, and i couldn't move the arm tho i could move my fingers. And i thought "uh oh". i knew something was wrong, and said, "i think i broke my arm! i think i broke my arm!"

Everyone ran down the big hill when i didn't (and couldn't) get up. F was quite freaked out, and so was everyone else.. apparently it was quite a bad fall. When they ascertained that it was indeed broken, someone called for an ambulance. Fortunately i could move my head and legs and other bits and didn't have concussions or anything.

I was brought to the university hospital of Linköping, the town we're in, got injected with painkillers, my arm put in a plastic cast and x-rayed.. According to the docs it's a clean break. I'm now in a short adjustable plastic cast and sling cuz the fracture is right in the middle of the upper arm. Felt quite miserable and scared on the day it happened, but I'm feeling a lot better now. :) F's been taking really good care of me :)

The painkillers they prescribed are quite strong and make me quite spaced out, but at least they work well :). The cast makes my arm itch like hell. Arrrrgh!

I think i'll be able to remove the cast in about 6 weeks and i will have full use in 3-6 months...

Was scheduled to fly home last Saturday, but I really didn't feel like travelling in this condition, so I relayed the news to my boss, who was, fortunately, sympathetic... so I'll be in Sweden another 10 days, only flying home next Tuesday.

One thing good came out of this ordeal tho... I get to spend a little more time with F, and let him take care of me. It's lovely. :)

Snow-whee!

It's my fifth day here now in snowy Sweden. Linköping is covered with snow, unlike the last winter I was here, and it's so pretty! Right now it's 8am and F has gone back to sleep... I wake at the crack of dawn every day, and can't go back to sleep, to his dismay, my mind is so active. Hehe.

I love going out for walks here. If you ask me to go for a walk in Kuala Lumpur or anywhere in Malaysia for that matter, I'll look at you as though you're mad. It's nice and cold here, and of course being a visitor there are a lot of things to see. Fat ducks keeping parts of the icy river open by diving into them, equally fat geese waddling about (and leaving steaming piles of poop), red-cheeked toddlers bundled up in colourful warm layers, smiling old folk walking their collies/alsatians/etc, kids making snowmen and sledding, people having semla and coffee at trendy cafes, the lovely vast snowy landscape. I keep taking pictures.

Now, I keep imagining having banana pancakes for brekkie. Will try and make some now. ;)
